Found another Dog

One of the girls here at the office found another dog on the loose out here in the country.  She is adorable.  Hopefully someone is looking for her.

If anyone who lives in Magnolia, TX is missing a dog near Dobbin Huffsmith Rd. let me know.

Brian's visit to Houston

So my buddy Brian came down for the weekend to check out the haps in H-town.  So we went and hung out in a couple of bars in the The Woodlands.  Hit up breakfast at the Egg & I on Sat, checked out chinatown, and hit up this club called Crome.  Apparently, that's where all the hot asian chicks went...and it didn't disappoint.  There were some hotties out that night.  Then on Sunday we went down to Bellaire for Brian's first taste of real Dim Sum...he also had his first Bubble Tea.  The weather wasn't the greatest, but we had a few days of sunshine, but it was definitely warmer than Detroit.

Walked around Rice Village, then checked out the Rice University Campus.

New Mexico Here I come...

Had to go out to NM to do a scene inspection with my buddy Nick.  Unfortunately, due to the accident occuring in BFE, we had to fly into Tucson and drive 180 miles to the scene.  But we did end up having all you can eat sushi for $19.95 for dinner...it was surprisingly good quality.

New Toy

My Asus Eee PC showed up today!  I had convinced myself not to buy one, but then my buddy Dan pulled the trigger...so I had to have one as well.  Ironically, I ordered mine after he did and mine showed up first :P  This thing is tiny, the size of a small book.  Super well built.  I've been playing with the linux on it, but I think I'm going to have to install XP just so I can use it for some work stuff.  My Cirago BT micro bluetooth adapter came in with it.  But unfortunately, neither my 2gb of ram or 16gb SD card showed up today.

Well, it was probably birdshot.  We went to lunch at Mel's yesterday and as I sat down to tuck into my chicken fried chicken, I noticed there was something stuck in my fork...don't know how it got there, but it wad definitely hard and metallic.  Sure looked like birdshot...afterall, we were in the country.

Car Troubles

So the bimmer went to the dealer for some engine work after I got back from Christmas.  As I was driving the loaner car back to the dealer to pick up my car...a deer ran across the road and t-boned me.  I thought all was lost, as I no only has to pay $1100 for engine service, but I figured I would be out my $500 deductable.  But AAA came through.  Since the loaner was treated as a rental, it was under my liability coverage, and being a no fault accident, I didn't have to pay my deductable.  All was good...for a day.  The dealer told me that the belts needed to be replaced and they could do it for $110.  I figured that since I already had the belt, and is a pretty easy job, I would do it myself.  Unfortunately, I was wrong.  I had a special tool to take off the fan of a 528i...but apparently the 540i requires a different tool. Well, I ended up forcing it and of course broke something.  The fan pulley cracked.  I thought it would hold until I could get a new part, but as soon as I pulled out of the driveway, it let go and punched a pin hole in radiator.  Luckily Jeff was around and let me borrow his Miata until I could get parts.  So a week later, I had my new pulley and radiator.  Got everything installed and (fingers crossed) should be trouble free for a while.

 

New Years in New Orleans

Since we ran out of ideas and time for something to do on New Year's, my friend's Jeff and Erika decided to go back out to New Orleans to hang out with Erica's sister and brother.  We also met up with Jeff and Erika's friends Craig and Hollie from FL.  Needless to say as soon as the handgrenades started going down...things went downhill quickly.  We had a nice dinner at a place called Feelings.  Pretty good food, but way too pricey for what you got.  After that we headed back down into the Quarter for some streetside fun and to watch the fireworks.  Then we headed to Harrah's for some gambling and Lucky Dog Hot dogs.

Seattle for Christmas

Went home to Seattle for Christmas.  It was good seeing my parents and of course my sister again...lol.  Definitely the best xmas week to date.  We got a lot of stuff done.  Swtiched my parents to Cingular, got my mom a new car, had a big xmas dinner with all the extended family....with all the little (maybe not so little these days) cousins did the cooking.  One of my cousins is going going to culinary school, so he cooked up some seriously tasty steak.  The rest was traditional asian fare.  Also got the chance see some of my old friends from high school, college, and Ford.

So my sister decided to say for a week after our return from Europe...must be nice to have a 2 month paid sabbatical :)  Anyway, she demanded that we discharge firearms, so I borrowed my friend's HK USC, with UMP conversion.  Its a semi auto .45 ACP with 30 round magazine...woohoo!
