Guess what I got to shoot today. Went to the Scottsdale Gun Club and signed up for their Machine Gun Adventure. It cost a bundle...but it was worth it.
Dave and I got sent to Bondurant as part of our training for work. There are certainly worst things that one might have to do for work, but this is definitely not one of them. As it turns out Emerson Fittipaldi's 14 yr old grandson, Pietro, is in our class. So who flies in to lend moral support? Emerson Fittipaldi himself. I got to shake his hand and hang out on the patio bs'ing about racing. Bob Bondurant was also on hand to hang out too. Way too cool. Here's a pic of me with Bob and Emerson.
Every year Scott Kelby organizes a worldwide photowalk on the same day. Each group leader plans a route and time, then all the photos are submitted online to win cash and prizes. Unfortunately, this forced march didn't inspire much of my creativity. I did come up with some decent shots, but nothing spectacular.
Went to Sealy Flats for the first time. Definitely an awesome place for dinner and live bands. Here's the Crossroads Platter, 2 quail, 2 pairs of frog legs, onion rings, sweet potato fries, and fried zucchini ...all deep
fried of course.
Struggling to find a gift for my Dad for Father's, all I could think of was a card...and a visit. He's not much into hobbies. 4th of July was a nice 4 day weekend so I didn't have to burn up a
bunch of vacation. So the whole family got together and ate like there was no tomorrow. Guess that's how asians show your love :) Got to some some old friends too. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great until I flew out. Out attempt to see the fireworks at the lake ended when a huge rain storm blasted through 5 hrs before the show. Oh well, it was fun while I lasted. See all the photos here.
San Angelo hosted the Drag Boat Races at the end of June...yeah, I know, I've been slacking on my posts. Better late than never. We spent the Friday looking at the monster machines on the Friday before the races. Then spent the Saturday at the races at Joe's patio. Its basically a concrete slab in the middle of his wife's investment property. It did however, offer a perfect view of the finish line of the races and allowed us to avoid the crowds. Dave hooked us up with a pop, and we had lots of booze and food.
Found a hot deal on this Lumix TZ50. Its basically the same thing as a TZ5, I've been wanting a superzoom compact travel camera, for a while now. The wifi is crude at best, and can only upload to picasa web albums. However, with the Nexus on and the wifi hotspot and can hook up the camera to the phone and upload anywhere within cell range.
